Bookstore Volunteer

Carlsbad, CA, United States

I'd Like to Help!

We’re building a friendly little literary home near the Flower Fields and Premium Outlets, and we’d love a few more hands (and brains) to help it grow and stay organized.

This isn’t a formal job — it’s a chance for book people to pitch in on the practical side of running an indie shop. We need folks who care about books and have skills that keep a small bookshop running smoothly so we can stay open and keep growing.

We're Looking For People Who

Genuinely love books (especially the genres we stock)
Notice details and like things to be tidy
Are reliable and friendly
Are physically able to handle books and light shelf work
Use whatever organizing, genre, social, or community skills you already have to help us grow

Ways You Can Help

Sort and categorize new arrivals into their proper sections (Fantasy, Romance, Thriller, Horror, Sci-Fi, Occult)
Keep shelves looking good and easy to browse
Help with general shop upkeep
Assist customers when it feels natural; let all who enter feel the love
Support events and special moments

What’s in it for you?

We know your time matters, and while we’re still working toward being able to hire a full team, we want volunteering here to feel worthwhile (and a little fun).

- 25% off the day of your shift (excludes sale items and bargain books)
- Early access to new arrivals so you can browse them first
- A real hand in building a passionate community of book lovers in Carlsbad
- Free Diet Dr Pepper (or other beverages) on us during your shift
- Flexible hours that fit your life
- Time spent in a comfy, book-filled space with other readers
- Conversations about the books you love with the team and customers
- The satisfaction of helping a small shop stay open and become a lasting community spot

If you have time, energy, and skills that can help an indie bookstore stay organized and grow, we’d love to hear from you.
